The academic teaching staff of Department of General and Applied Physics is represented by 14 members, including 1 Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor; 7 Candidates of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professors; 2 Candidates of Technical Sciences, Associate Professors; 4 Assistant Professors. The academic activities are supported by 8 members of engineering staff, including 1 Head of Laboratories, 1 Head of Computer Labs, 5 Engineers, 1 Laboratory Assistant.

Teaching of physics and special physical courses is performed in 2 lecture rooms, 10 university laboratories on mechanics, molecular physics, electricity and magnetism, optics and atomic physics, as well as 2 computer labs (22 workstations are connected to the university internal network and Internet).

The Department members apply advanced teaching technologies in compliance with the credit based modular learning and the students’ performance appraisal rating system. The distance learning technology of Drohobych consultation center based on 6-modular electronic training manual on physics published by the Department staff and revised by Professor M. O. Haluschak.

During the period of 2010-2014 the Department academic members (Professor M. O. Haluschak and Associate. Professor R. M. Lutchyskyi) represented the university at International exhibitions on the education development problems and were awarded Merit Certificates and Diplomas by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the university was awarded 5 Golden medals.

The Department of General and Applied Physics, on the basis of scientific and technological, academic agreements, cooperates with research laboratories of Institute of Physics of NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Semiconductor Physics of NAS of Ukraine, departments of physics of the V. Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, I. Franko Lviv National University, the Sumy State University, Yu. Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University and Institute of Pedagogical Education of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine.
