Haluschak Marian Oleksiiovych - Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Soros Professor, Honoured Education System Worker of Ukraine.
     He was born on the 6th of February in 1944 in Kolodiivka village, Tysmenytsia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. In 1965 he graduated with distinction from Faculty of Physical and Mathematics of Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute (at present Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University).          
     He started his teaching activities as a secondary school teacher of physics, as a college teacher he together with the pedagogical institute scientists established laboratory “Physics of Thin Semiconductor Films”, where under Dmytro Freik’s supervision he performed experimental research. On its basis he defended Candidate’s dissertation in Ivan Franko Lviv University in 1977. Since 1978 he has become a lecturer in Ivano-Frankivsk University of Oil and Gas: he has worked as an Associate Professor at Department of Physics, then the Mechanical Faculty Deputy Dean and Dean, since 1992 he has worked as a Professor at the Department of Physics. Since 2001 he has worked as the Head of Fundamental Training Institute, since 2004 he has worked as the Head of newly established new Department of Innovative Technologies. In 2007 the University Academic Board of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas appointed M. O. Haluschak as the Vice Rector for Educational Research, in 2010 he was appointed as Head of Department of General and Applied Physics.
     M. O. Haluschak performs a large amount of scientific and methodological activities. He published more than 50 scientific and methodological works, 29 textbooks and manuals, 17 of them were classified by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, they are popular among students and lecturers. Under his supervision the credit based modular learning system was developed and implemented, it is a basis of All-Ukrainian experiment on credit based modular technology in compliance with the requirements of Bologna Declaration. He is developing the distant learning methodology. In cooperation with National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine he established the Centre of Pedagogical Excellence, serving as the school of professional enhancement for the university teaching staff.
     M. O. Haluschak combines effective teaching, methodological and educational work with scientific research, aimed at solution of technological and scientific assignments of semiconductor film material science. Based on experimental and theoretical research he developed new techniques that make it possible to obtain materials with specified parameters, they are proved by 26 patents for invention. The results of practical and theoretical research are reflected in more than 250 published works, 6 monographs and in the doctoral thesis. M. O. Haluschak trained six Candidates of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and performs supervision over post-graduate students, specializing in solid state physics. M. O. Haluschak is a member of the Special Academic Board, supervising defence of Candidate and Doctoral theses and a member of the editorial board of “Solid State Physics and Chemistry”.
     For long and committed work and personal contribution to the national education development, pedagogical excellence he was awarded the title of “The Honored Education System Worker of Ukraine” by the decree of the President of Ukraine, he was awarded Order of Merit Third Class.
