On the occasion of the beginning of the new 2018-2019 academic year, a matriculation ceremony took place in the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas. This special event gathered together students, parents, academic staff, and high-ranking guests. The festive atmosphere reigned at IFNTUNG Stadium: the first-year students of seven Institutes, the College of Economics, Law and Information Technologies, the College of Electronic Devices, students of the Physical and Technical Lyceum participated in the matriculation ceremony. The solemn ceremony began with the raising of the national flag of Ukraine, and singing of the national anthem. However, the first words of welcome have been marred by the mention of those who fell on the field of battle on the eastern borders of our country Roman Zozulia and Andrii Proshak.
In his speech, Rector of the University, Commander of the “Order of Merit", the academician of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science of Ukraine, Laureate of State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi welcomed the freshmen, their parents and guests, and assured that the university will do everything possible so the younger generation of students could get a high-quality education to successfully meet the challenges of providing energy security of the country.
A lot of honored guests attended the celebration. Among them there were Deputy Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration I. Pasichniak, Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk R. Martsinkiv, Vice rector of Ivano-Frankivsk Theological Academy Borys Hober, Head of the Department of Management of Akademia Pomorska in Slupsk (Poland) Eva Matuska, Head of the Security Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk Region P. Didukh, a representative of The Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Amund Myklebust and others. In their speeches the guests highly appreciated the educational and scientific potential of IFNTUOG, its prestige in Ukraine and abroad. It was nice to hear the words of gratitude from the Deputy Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Ihor Pasichniak and the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk Ruslan Martsinkiv who appreciated the cooperation of the local authorities with IFNTUOG and emphasized the prospects and importance of implementing scientific developments for the energy independence of the country.
In theatrical performance of matriculation goddess of wisdom, patron of sciences Athena and the god of art and secret knowledge Apollo, arrived from Olympus and entrusted the Key of Knowledge to the Rector Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi and first-year students Oksana Boichuk and Dmytro Mahdii. Queen of Oil came accompanied by honor guard and brought a cup of oil for oil ceremonial initiation ritual. It is a symbolic oath of allegiance to their chosen profession. After the matriculation, the students became real oilfield workers. Later, Athena, Apollo, Queen of Oil and oilfield workers inflamed the Fire of Knowledge – the symbol of human wisdom.
Theatrical matriculation was accompanied by numerous performances of professional and amateur artists. The matriculation ceremony of first-year students was held by the speakers: Associate Professor of the Department of History and Political Science Natalia Kontsur and Taras Vasyliuk.
