Despite the ongoing quarantine in Ukraine, the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, adhering to all the rules, is constantly working on fulfilling its educational, scientific and international obligations. The University has won five prestigious international grants recently. And on April 3, within one of them, the Project HUSKROUA/1702/6.1/0022 “Regional Center for Training and Monitoring of the Environmental lmpact of Electrical lnstallations – CRIMIGE”, co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020, the first video conferencing meeting was held between the Project team members – the representatives of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, North University Center of Baia Mare (Romania) and the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.
On behalf of the IFNTUOG, the following participants took part in the video conference: Oleg Mandryk (First Vice-Rector and Communication Project Manager), Yaroslav Adamenko (Head of the Department of Ecology and Project Manager at IFNTUOG), Liudmyla Arkhypova (Head of the Department of Tourism and Technical Expert), Tetiana Kulyk (Financial Manager of the Project, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Economics and Management Theory), Nataliia Hlibovytska (Ecological Expert, Assistant Professor of the Department of Ecology), Taras Kachala (GIS Expert, Assistant Professor of the Department of Ecology), and Yuliia Stakhmych (Interpreter and Translator, Assistant Professor of the Department of Philology, Interpreting and Translation).
The Romanian participants were: Pop Sitar Petrică (Vice-Rector of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and North University Center of Baia Mare and Communication Project Manager), Mirela Ana Coman (Project Coordinator Manager at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca), Mihaela Steț (Assistant Project Coordinator Manager), Mircea Horgoș (Technical Expert), Claudiu Lung (Technical Expert), Ramona Demarcsek (Interpreter and Translator).
The Vice-Rectors of the Ukrainian and Romanian Universities, Project Managers on both sides and Experts delivered their speeches online. The participants discussed the terms and prospects of implementing the main Project activities:
- theoretical and practical training of 120 students/master degree students (60 from each country), regarding the cross-border impact on the environment of the production, transport, distribution and use of energy;
- creating together a database regarding the values of electromagnetic pollution, noise, vibrations and radiation of the electric installations from the cross-border region;
- cooperation with different organizations (civil, public, private) interested in the impact of energy systems on the environment, etc.
Measuring the electromagnetic radiation, noise, vibration and radiation fields within the oblast will be based on the proposals of the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and the Main Department for Tourism, European Integration, External Relations and Investments of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration.
The general atmosphere of the video conference was constructive and positive. The participants are optimistic about combating COVID-19. They believe that the time of quarantine is the opportunity to carefully prepare for practical work, think out and share the theoretical ideas. The project studies on monitoring the environmental impact of electrical installations, performed within the Project, and the innovative tools will be of practical use to lay the basis for experts in studying and assessing the environmental impacts under the European and national legislation on environmental protection.
Information on the Project “Regional Center for Training and Monitoring of the Environmental Impact of Electrical Installations – CRIMIGE”: total budget of the Project – 272 637.52 EUR (including 245 373.76 EUR – the EU contribution; funding for IFNTUOG – 134 222.00 EUR (120 799.80 EUR – the EU grant; 13 422.20 EUR – INFTUOG own co-financing).
The main objective of the Project is to provide a joint ecological training and implement an awareness campaign regarding the environmental impact of electricity, based on surveys and experience and practices exchanges. “Regional Center for Training and Monitoring of the Environmental lmpact of Electrical lnstallations – CRIMIGE” needs suitable equipment, which contributes greatly to the control of the processes which may disturb the natural functioning of environmental factors, to an integrated evaluation of the environmental impact, and knowledge about the legislation on environmental protection.
