On April 22-24, 2015 International Student Petroleum Congress & Career Expo "East Meets West" was held in a wonderful city of Krakow (Poland).
This year Ukraine was represented by seven students of Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, members of SPE - Ostap Khodak, Oleksandr Lymar, Roman Mazur, Serhii Kryvenko, Andrii Vytiaz, Uliana Dzoba, Sviatoslav Stefanyshyn! Two of them, Serhii Kryvenko and Roman Mazur, successfully presented their researches in different sessions.
The conference began with the intellectual game «PetroOlympic Games». This quiz covers a wide range of issues of the oil and gas industry, from drilling to economics of the oil and gas industry and also checks the participant’s knowledge of recent developments in it. The game is completely in English. 4th year student of our university Oleksandr Lymar was among the winners of this year game.
Among this year participants of the congress there were a lot of people who are pretty famous in petroleum industry: Jeff Spath (last year President of SPE Int., Vice president of Schlumberger Ltd.), Matthias Meister (regional Director of SPE in Europe, Product Development Manager at Baker Hughe Inc.), Parker Snyder (Executive Director of CleanTech Group Inc., President of Poland Shale Coalition) and others.
The vacancy fair was one of the most important events of the congress. Representatives of the companies provided information about their activities and encouraged students to apply for positions at their companies by submitting their CVs.
Ukrainian delegation of students returned from the trip full of positive emotions and extra motivation for their further development.
