70th anniversary of the Petroleum Engineering Faculty of IFNTUOG

Seventy years ago in December 1944 the Oil Engineering Faculty was founded on the basis of Lviv Polytechnic Institute. The Faculty of Petroleum Engineering has always been base educational unit of IFNTUOG. The graduates of the Faculty are committed to providing energy security of our country. At the beginning of 2014-2015 academic year the Faculty was reorganized into the Institute of Petroleum Engineering. Former students, teachers and staff of the Faculty came to the university to celebrate this important date. 

The International Scientific and Technical Conference "Oil and gas education and science: current state and future perspectives" was dedicated to this very date. The Conference was held at the premises of the IFNTUOG on December 10-12, 2014. 

The welcoming speech by the director of the Petroleum Engineering Institute Oleh Vytiaz marked the start of the conference. Mr. Vytiaz introduced the participants of the event - the representatives of the industry and graduates of the faculty. Among them there were: Yevhen Mrozeka (LLC "Ukrburservis"), Serhii Luban, Yurii Luban and Ivan Polituchyi (LLC "Geosynthesis Engineering"), Andrii Danchyshyn and Volodymyr Petruniak (JV "Poltavska Hazonaftova Kompaniia"), Andrii Livinskyi (RTE "Burova Technika"), Ivan Kravets ("Shebelynkanaftohaz"), Ivan Yaremko ("Dolynanaftohaz"), Anatolii Fedchenko and Serhii Tertyshnii (PJSC "Naftohazvydobuvannia"), Yefim Bikman ("UkrNDIhaz"), Serhii Veklyn (PE "Prompostach"), Ihor Huk (LLC "Burova Kompaniia Horyzonty") and others.  

The Vice-rector for research and international affairs welcomed the participants of the conference. In his speech he emphasized the importance of the high quality training of the petroleum industry professionals who now face a lot of challenges, first of all those, connected with environmental safety. 

The plenary session began right after the welcoming speeches. The scientists of the university presented their speeches which mainly dealt with training of future engineers, research and academic staff of petroleum industry. In late afternoon the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Petroleum Enginnering Faculty was held in the events hall of the IFNTUOG. First Vice-rector of the university Professor Fedir Kozak once again emphasized the importance of the faculty for the country's energy security and said that most of the engineering and technical personnel are IFNTUOG's graduates. 

The professors, teachers, students, and personnel of the Institute were awarded certificates of honour and testimonials. 

On December, 12 the break-out sessions "Oil and gas geology, well drilling", "Oil and gas production", "Transportation and storage of hydrocarbons", "Energy effeciency and nontraditional energy sources", and "Traditions and innovations in training of oil and gas complex specialists " were held.
