General Information
The Department of Oil and Gas Well Drilling Engineering curriculum provides sound background in basic sciences and their application to practical problems to address the complex and changing nature of petroleum industry. Course work includes the fundamentals of chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, geophysics, mathematics, and physics. Applied courses cover most aspects of petroleum engineering. The educational process at the department is provided by three Doctors of Sciences, eleven PhDs (Technical Sciences), and five teaching assistants. Our objective is to prepare the students for professional work in the petroleum industry through completion of fundamental courses in the major field and in related sciences as well as independent research. The postgraduate study for those majoring in “Well drilling” is provided by the department. Our students get basic science and engineering courses that p
rovide sufficient depth for a wide spectrum of careers in the energy and environmental industries. One of the goals of the program is to provide experience integrating the skills developed in individual courses to address a significant design problem. Our graduates work in petroleum companies throughout the world.
