Start a new life

On February 21, 2019, a new course of the Ukraine-Norway project on retraining and social adaptation of retired military officers and their families began in IFNTUOG. Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, which has been involved in the project since 2014, has become the educational platform, which has already provided a good start in the new field of activity for many participants of ATO, retired servicemen and adult members of their families The significance and imprtance of this work can not be overestimated, because when a person remains behind the army, it is important to see the real prospect, to define the goal and pave the way towards it.

The start of a new life is being supported jointly by Ukraine (the International Fund for Social Adaptation) and Norway (the NORD University). This time under their patronage free training course "Entrepreneurship and Leadership", which organizers prepared very thoroughly begins in the partner universities, in particular IFNTUOG. Project Coordinator, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of IFNTUOG prof. Maksym Karpash, introducing the course, emphasized the high requirements for the teaching staff involved in the project implementation:

  • Among the lecturers there will be specialists from other partner universities as well as from Norway. We will have meetings with entrepreneurs with representatives of government, with community leaders.
  • The convenient flexible schedule of three-month training is going to be very intense: the trainees will learn the basics of entrepreneurship, business management and financial management, marketing, accounting, administrative and legal aspects of business, consider energy efficiency and energy saving, sustainable development strategy, will improve their English.

The project manager Olha Popovych told the students about the program of social adaptation. For cadets, this will mean meetings with a psychologist, interesting excursions, in particular on the enterprises of the region, exciting workshops. The program is diverse.

A significant moment for the project participants is the prospect of real employment after the successful completion of courses, according to the career development map.

Mr. Karpash draws the attention of the course participants:

-Our main task is to help you find a second life. Of course, it does not mean that you will immediately run the way that you will be shown, but it is important to see that there are options and this way exists.
