On April 6, 2017 a Forum of rectors of higher technical educational institutions of Ukraine and Poland was held at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. Rector of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, academician of NAS of Ukraine, Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi was among the nearly 170 heads of technical universities of Ukraine and Poland representing our university. A month ago, on March 6, 2017 a meeting of the international organizing Committee on the preparation of the Forum: the Polish-Ukrainian days of education, science and innovation was held in the Ivano-Frankivsk national technical University of oil and gas. The event, organized by the Association of rectors of higher technical educational institutions of Ukraine and the conference of rectors of technical universities of the Republic of Poland with the support of the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine, Ministry of science and higher education of the Republic of Poland and the Polish educational Foundation "Perspektywy", was attended by the Minister of education and science of Ukraine L. Hrynevych, the first Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of UkraineI. Herashchenko, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Jan Pieklo, and MPs.
The forum aimed at considering the opportunities and prospects for expanding cooperation, as well as common problems of Ukrainian and Polish higher technical education and ways to overcome them. A joint special meeting of the Conference of rectors of technical universities of Polish Republic and Association of rectors of higher technical educational institutions of Ukraine "Breakthrough projects of international cooperation of technical universities of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland in science, technology and innovations: University satellite, aerospace technology, cyber security and nuclear security, clean water, renewable energy" was conducted in the framework of the Forum. Rector of IFNTUOG Ye. Kryzhanivskyi made a report at the Plenary session of the Forum, paying attention to the possibilities of technical universities of Ukraine and Poland in the framework of energy cooperation.
On April 7, the Forum continued with round tables. The Round table № 4 "Dual diplomas – cooperation of higher technical institutions of Ukraine and Poland in the field of education" was chaired by Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi. Among the thematic clusters of the Round table the issues of regulatory frameworks for the creation of dual degree programs in Ukraine and Poland, motivation, and models of dual degree programs, sustainable development of these programs, the problem of finding partners, and getting acquainted with the best developments in this direction were considered. Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the University O. Mandryk informed the participants of the Round table about positive experience of cooperation between IFNTUOG and the Krakiw mining and metallurgical Academy.
The Round table ended with the adoption of recommendations concerning the ways of overcoming the problems of dual degree programs.
