NATO-Ukraine cooperation: retraining of former military personnel at IFNTUOG

On May 4, 2016 the participants of the project “NATO-Ukraine”, in particular the "Marketing Management" course aimed at retraining of the retired military personnel, were awarded certificates at the premises of business incubator of the Institute of Economics and Management in Oil and Gas Complex. The training was organized by the Science Park of Kyiv National Economic University and for the first time conducted in the Ivano -Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas.
According to the project the workshops were conducted by leading scientists and economists of IFNTUOG and their colleagues from Vadym Hetman KNEU.
Business incubator gathered twenty trainees who had an opportunity to study the management and marketing fundamentals. The training lasted for two months and was funded from the budgets of member countries of NATO.
However, among those who expressed a desire to study, there were not only reserve officers who are currently adapting to civilian life, but also the serving officers who make plans for the future after they release from the army.
As the project manager of the Science Park of Kyiv National Economic University of Vadym Kozak noted, the Alliance countries are concerned that the former military officers did not feel the negative effects of their release of the troops and were able to find their place in the future. There is also hope that NATO will continue to provide funds for retraining of the Ukrainian officers who want to get skills for new, civilian professions.
The students expressed their gratitude to the Professors for a course of training and noted that this assistance is very useful, as it enhances their professional and social adaptation.

NOTE! NATO is providing support to the retraining of released or retired military personnel to assist Ukraine in managing the socioeconomic consequences of defence reform. A NATO-funded retraining programme is providing linguistic and specialised
professional courses for several hundred former military personnel per year.
