IFNTUOG's integration into the European educational and scientific space

On May 3-7, 2016 a delegation of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas consisting of Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, social and economic development O. Dzoba, Director of the Institute of Petroleum Engineering O. Vytiaz, Director of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics V. Omelchenko paid a working visit to AGH University of Science and Technology (Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica – AGH) (Krakow, Poland), The Technical University of Košice (Slovakia) and the University of Miskolc (Hungary). The purpose of the visit was to discuss the issues of training students in 2016/2017 academic year according to the dual diploma programs, coordinate students’ practical training, discuss the conditions for participation of foreign representatives in international scientific conferences held by IFNTUOG, monitor training of Ukrainian students within the program «Erasmus +».

During the visit to Krakow AGH University of Science and Technology (Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica – AGH) IFNTUOG representatives had a meeting with the heads of relevant partner-departments, where among other things they discussed the participation of university scientists in joint research projects. Monitoring of IFNTUOG students’ training in Polish universities in 2015/2016 academic year according to the dual diploma programs demonstrated a satisfactory level of training and almost one hundred percent readiness to protect their Master’s theses.

Business meeting at the State Research Institute of Oil and Gas with the Deputy Director Peter Suh and the Head of one of the departments Krzysztof Regucki proved to be very useful. The Ukrainian scientists were impressed by modern laboratories and research areas of the Polish Institute. It should be noted that the former student of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics Mykhailo Ohorodnichuk (HNHm-11-1) works in this institute. During the meeting, an agreement on joint laboratory researches at the Research Institute of Oil and Gas in Krakow was reached.

A visit to the Technical University of Kosice was fruitful as well. In the course of the visit the meeting with the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnology, prof. Lubica Kazakova and a representative of the Department of Land Resources Ian Pinka was held; the possible inclusion of IFNTUOG into the project «Erasmus +» by Slovak party was discussed; draft joint international programs elaborated by the IFNTUOG scientists were considered.

At the University of Miskolc the IFNTUOG representatives met with students who are taught in Hungarian universities under the program «Erasmus +», and the curator of the program at the University, prof. Ferenc Madai. His words of praise for the integration of Ukrainian students in the learning process of the Hungarian university that dispelled his fears and "showed a high level of knowledge not only in specific disciplines, but also in English" proved to be pleasant for our delegation.

Issues of further cooperation, joint publications and foreign colleagues’ participation in international scientific conferences that will be held in IFNTUOG in May were discussed in the course of the visit.
