On March 10, 2017 the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk visited the Ivano-Frankivsk national technical University of oil and gas in the framework of the working visit to the Precarpathian region. Mr. Ambassador met with the Rector, academician of NAS of Ukraine. Ye. Kryzhanivskyi, students, teaching staff, and directors of institutes. The audience congratulated the Ambassador with applause and listened to a brief lecture on the prospects of cooperation between our countries.
Canada is known for its support and friendly attitude to Ukraine. Mr. Vashchuk mentioned this and told about the possibility of effective cooperation in education and science. He also remembered the first Ukrainian immigrants from Nebyliv, whose hard work in Canada was a success and a role model for their compatriots. The Ambassador focused on the present: on Canadian projects in the energy sector, regional development, in particular the cities of Ivano-Frankivsk, Kolomyia, Dolyna and Yaremcha, investment and educational projects. Canada is ready to encourage investment in Ukraine in those regions where local authorities are open for honest and mutually beneficial cooperation with fair and transparent rules. He highlighted the possibility of effective cooperation in various sectors, whether economy, or education, for the benefit of Ukraine. However, this cooperation should be carried without corruption schemes and unscrupulous pursuit of profit.
IFNTUOG teachers were interested in Canadian educational and research projects, and students asked about business projects and employment. All of them received satisfactory answers concerning scientific and research organizations of Canada, the interest of the Canadian part in the field of information technology and production of oil and gas. Information about the opportunities for effective cooperation with the Canadian technical universities, which, thanks to their autonomy have the right to conclude bilateral cooperation agreements with foreign universities on mutually beneficial terms proved to be very important for the international activities of IFNTUOG.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Roman Vashchuk conveyed his best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous future for Ukraine, community and young people, who own the future.
