Polish students undertake cartographic internship in the Carpathians

 
 In the framework of the Agreement on cooperation in educational and research spheres between the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas and the AGH University of Science and Technology (Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica – AGH) 45 Polish students of the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of the Polish University arrived in Ivano-Frankivsk on  July 2, 2016 to  undertake cartographic internship in the Carpathians. Supervisor of the internship from IFNTUOG – Director of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Valerii Omelchenko, met apprentices and their Polish supervisor – Doctor of Technical Sciences Pavel Kosakovskyi on the border. The internship will last 10 days in the village of River of the Kosiv district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. There is a unique testing ground for the practical training on mapping with a large number of outcrops, informative relief that allows spending quality internship. Within ten days the students will perform the description of the outcrops, measure the occurrence of rocks in outcrops, and will apply the obtained data on the topographic map, on the basis of which they will draw geological map and map of geological sections. 
This is the first visit to the Carpathian Mountains for the majority of Polish students. Thus, gaining professional experience, they will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the culture and recreational areas of the Hutsul region.
