On August 31, 2016 the graduate of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, world – famous Ukrainian economist, PhD, assistant professor of economics at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a specialist in experimental economics and game theory, with applications to behavioral economics, conflict resolution, industrial organization, and public and labor economics Roman Sheremeta visited the University. Sheremeta is one of the top-rated young economists in the world and is listed as a Top Economic Thinker of Ukrainian descent by FORBES. Roman Sheremeta serves as an associate editor at the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.

Warm memories of our outstanding compatriot are associated not only with the IFNTUOG as his Alma mater (Roman Sheremeta had been successfully studying at the university from 1999 to 2003 in the specialty "Economics of the fuel and energy complex enterprise"), but also with physical and mathematical lyceum and Ivano-Frankivsk. Head of the Department of Economics of enterprises of the Institute of Economics and management in oil and gas complex and his former teacher and mentor Danyliuk M. O. rightly includes Roman Sheremeta with the Golden Fund of University graduates.

The talented graduate had a meeting with the rector of IFNTUOG, academician of NAS of Ukraine, Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi, Vice-rector for research and international affairs Professor Oleh Karpash, Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, social and economic development Oleh Dzoba, Director of the Institute of Management and Economics in oil and gas complex Professor Liliana Horal, heads of departments, teachers, scientists of IFNTUOG, and media representatives.

Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi announced the results of the business meeting at a press conference, outlining opportunities to attract talented University graduates of IFNTUOG to the initiated state program to improve energy security of Ukraine, which today is in need of developments of economic mechanisms for its implementation. Scientific community today faces a major challenge – to overcome the problem of energy dependence of the country. The rector said about the prospect of creation of the program of economic analysis, which would unite Ukraine and other European countries on the path to energy independence from Russia, and that "the graduates of IFNTUOG that have successfully realized their potential abroad, can become bridges in this Union".

Roman Sheremeta breaks the stereotypical view on domestic education, to which our citizens are accustomed in the conditions of constant criticism. He is a successful highly qualified economist who got education in Ukraine. He believes that strong economy is the key to state success, while talking about the problems in education that must and can be overcome today.

Pleased to note that the Roman Sheremeta remains a fervent patriot of Ukraine who actively cooperates with the Ukrainian public organisations in the US. He expresses a willingness and desire to help his Homeland in word and deed.
