On March 22, 2017 the discussion of Polish-Ukrainian environmental project in the framework of participation in the contest of joint Ukrainian-Polish research projects announced by the Ministry of education and science of Ukraine and Ministry of science and higher education of the Republic of Poland took place in the Ivano-Frankivsk national technical University of oil and gas. The initiative to work together in one of the competitive priority directions of development of science and technology - "Ecology and environmental management", has been taken by the scientists of IFNTUOG and the AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow Poland since the days of joint internships, training and scientific research between the Institute of Environmental Engineering of the University and the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection (AGH). For consultations about filing a joint Ukrainian-Polish project the head of the Department of environmental protection (AGH), Professor Dariusz Czyzewski, representatives of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional Department of water resources and CE "Vodoekotekhprom" of Ivano-Frankivsk arrived at the IFNTUOG. The University was represented by Vice-rector on scientific and pedagogical work O. Mandryk, Director of IEI M. Mazur, head of Chemistry Department, Professor M. Polotnenko, associate Professor of the Department of ecology M. Orfanova. The project is based on the possibility of implementation of the European water framework Directive in Ukraine. Especially it concerns the problem of water quality in local water bodies. The parties expressed interest in studying and solving the problems of pollution of the rivers Bystrytsia Solotvynska and Nadvirnianska, of the Dniester River near the village of Mariiampil and the Burshtyn Sea. Currently the parties have arrived decision to conduct joint developments and registration of documents for participation in the competition.
