A partnership without borders

The implementation of project the Cross-border Network of Energy Sustainable Universities (NET4SENERGY) within the framework of Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 (HUSKROUA) began on October 1, 2019.

The main beneficiary – Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas represented by Rector Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi and the Director of the Joint Technical Secretariat Áron Szakács signed a grant agreement for the implementation of this project in Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration on the same day. The procedure of signing the agreement was also attended by the Vice-rector for international affairs, the coordinator of the project Maksym Karpash, Head of the Regional State Administration Denys Shmyhal, Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv, representatives of the university authorities and the public.

The main objective of the project is to increase the efficiency of major universities within the HUSKROUA cross-border region in order to overcome the negative effects of climate change through energy efficiency. The work will focus on ensuring the sustainable development of the territories by deepening cooperation, supporting actions and sharing ideas that contribute to achieving the goal. All four countries participating in the program are interested in finding new opportunities for closer cooperation, including in higher education, partnerships between municipalities, and more.

In general, the project aims to: create a cross-border network of universities as proactive energy efficiency agents, create their own energy-saving action plans, toolkit and pilot installations on renewable energy sources with real savings for the university; feasibility study, enhancing the IT solutions management system for the operational monitoring of universities' energy consumption (with an impact assessment with reference to the Sustainable Energy Action Plan for universities).

The project "Cross-border Network of Energy Sustainable Universities" is going to be implemented during the period of 2 years (01.10.2019 / 30.09.2021). IFNTUOG is the main beneficiary. The partners are: Technical University of Kosice (Slovakia), University of Miskolc (Hungary), Cluj-Napoca Technical University, Northern University Center in Baia Mare (Romania).

The total budget for four partners is € 326,448.04, of which: € 293,803.23 is a contribution from the European Union, € 18,282.96 is a contribution from partners, € 112,151.14 is a budget for Ukraine.
