Cooperation with AGH University of Science and Technology

The delegation of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas that included First Vice-rector, Professor Oleh Mandryk, Director of the Institute of Petroleum Engineering Oleh Vytiaz, Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences and TourismValerii Omelchenko visited Krakiw AGH University of Science and Technology (Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica – AGH) where they participated in the International Conference “Problems of applied geology and geophysics », dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Polish institution.

The invited guests included representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland, the Mayor of Krakow, many representatives of international companies and universities. It is difficult to overestimate the significance of the problems raised by scientists: it is not only about the exploration and production of minerals, energy resources, but also about the assessment of the risks of these activities for the environment and the prospects for the use of environmental energy sources.

In addition to participating in this scientific forum, the IFNTUNG delegation met with the leadership of the Academy – Vice-Rector for cooperation Jerzy Lis, Vice-Rector for Education Wojciech Łużny, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Anna Siwik. The issues and directions for further cooperation of the partner universities were discussed in the light of recent changes in the Polish higher education legislation. In particular, the format of exchange of students on the dual diploma program was discussed. The Academy has set up a group to develop a new co-operation agreement in this field, which includes IFNTUOG representatives.

It is also expected to further expand the range of scientific contacts: our university delegation visited the international department of the Academy. The occasion for the meeting was its collaboration with IFNTUOG within the Erasmus + program.

In addition, the agreement on cooperation between IFNTUOG and the Polish institution libraries was signed. As soon as it enters into force, Ukrainian partners will have access to the online editions of the Krakow Book Collection, and the students and teachers of the Academy will be able to use the professional literature available at the IFNTUOG Scientific and Technical Library.

A few days of hard work laid the groundwork for further cooperation between institutions. Colleagues will soon meet again, as the Polish party has invited a delegation of IFNTUOG, headed by Rector, Professor Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the AGH University of Science and Technology on October 17.
